Architectonics
This series grew out of my study of Renaissance costumes — their complex construction of pleats, corsets, sleeves, and volumes. This is the moment when clothing stopped simply enveloping a person and began to create the architecture of the body. I am interested in the moment when soft fabric becomes a structure. By transferring these lines into ceramics, I transform clothing into an object. In these forms, fragility and stability, decoration and construction meet — a duality through which I explore the transformation of experience.
